You Don’t Sell Air

A successful marketing program grows your reach. Growing your reach is really about building awareness of your brand, organization or products.

But emailing a list of tens of thousands of people who will never interact with your brand is pointless, you might as well shout into the wind. This is not the right way to build a memorable brand…at least not with your target audience.

TL;DR

If you want results, narrow your focus to specific

interests and target your messaging.

“Everybody” Is Not Your Target Audience

Whether you’re talking about building your business or gathering meaningful information about your email campaigns, you need to know who your audience is. “Everybody” is not an audience. Emailing “everybody” with the same content will give you scattered results with little usable data to learn from. However, “everybody who has visited your website” or “everyone who was at your trade show booth” is an audience that you can target and develop meaningful messaging for. Think about how you will segment your audience to send meaningful information.

The right content targeted at the right audience will produce results every time. WiIth those results will come opportunities to grow your reach by virtue of engagement. Engagement doesn’t mean growth of your actual audience size, but instead a deeper level of communication and relationship-building with your audience in a meaningful way.
