Behind the Name: 108 Degrees®

Often, I'm asked about the inspiration behind our company's name, 108 Degrees. The story is much like marketing itself - a balance of both art and science.

In its early days, the company used my own surname, we were known as 'Pfeiffer Interactive'. But, spelling of my last name and a word unfamiliar to most business owners in the early 21st century made brand recognition challenging (read: impossible to find) for potential clients. The need for a name that was memorable, simple, and stood out in the alphabetically-sorted directories of the early aughts became clearly evident.

That's when '108' came into view - a universally positive number that transcends across various fields like astronomy, mathematics, and numerous cultural and religious beliefs. Adding 'Degrees' to the name added intrigue…and was both accessible as a trademark and URL, meeting our strategic marketing goals.

In essence, our brand, similar to our work, combines art and science, encapsulated in the name, 108 Degrees.

Today, our logo is developed from a pentagon, a shape formed with 108 degree interior angles, and five sides representing our five key areas of service: marketing strategy, brand development, email, social media and content development.
